For Family & Friends of Brad Dickerson

        The Story & the Song

(for audio and lyrics, see “Take a listen!” page)

This song is a gift God gave me as a memorial tribute to my dear nephew Theodore Bradford(“Brad”) Dickerson (1988-2019). We invite you to take this gift as a free download in memory of Brad as we together commemorate the first anniversary of his death on January 9.

On January 9, 2019, my family received the news no one wants to hear.  On a cold, dark, lonely winter evening in Alaska, my nephew Brad was brutally killed in a head-on collision with a man who was driving under the influence of many different drugs.  Only 30 years old and intended to be married this year to Ivy, the love of his life, Brad’s death has been an inconceivable loss to our family.  There is no way to adequately describe the gaping hole that the pointless theft of his young life has left in our families’ lives, and in the lives of so very many friends across the earth.

Brad learned about God very early in his life and it was through the love of God that he was able to love and care about those around him as well as he did. He was a great giver and was very generous.  He cared deeply about people, especially those less fortunate than himself, was drawn to helping whoever needed it and had hopes to impact on a wider scale by starting an orphanage overseas.

He was creative, challenging, and mischievous and pushed the envelope with everything.  He embraced opportunities that came toward him with gusto and excitement.  He was fun-loving, humorous, sharp-witted, curious, diligent, insightful and deeply compassionate as a youth and adult.  He lived life to its fullest.

Brad was very bright and graduated magna cum laude from MiddleburyCollege in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts.  He later completed a Master of Science from the University of Alaska Anchorage, where his perfect GPA earned an invitation into the Phi Kappa Phi honors society.  As an ‘up and coming entrepreneur’ honored in memoriam by the Alaska State Legislature in Anchorage, he was a leader, a master networker/gatherer and an owner of three companies. Those he worked with quickly became friends.

Our family’s deep faith in Jesus is sustaining us as we continue to grieve for Brad.  As his mother put it, “with a certainty comparable to the depth of our loss, I know that we will be reunited with Brad some day. In spirit, Brad is alive and well in heaven with God and Jesus. One day, our family will be together again, and undoubtedly, Brad will be gathering everyone together and throwing a huge party in celebration of life.”

We miss you terribly, Brad, and we will not forget.

Anne would like to thank the J Ryan Trio – Ryan Janscha (piano), Andy Keyes (drums) and Dave Ciepluch (bass) – who donated their time to create and arrange this memorial song for our family.

Thank you to our sound engineer Matt Tucker at Music Mann Studios, Milwaukee, who captured the heart of this project and worked so diligently to help get this prepared for our family’s one year anniversary of Brad’s death.
